Is The Universal Orlando Photo Pass Worth It?

The Universal Orlando Photo Pass is a photo package that allows visitors to view, collect, download, and share pictures of themselves taken throughout the Universal Orlando theme parks.

Since it’s an added cost, you may be wondering if it’s worth it.

Here we’ll explore the features and benefits of buying a Universal photo pass so you can make an informed decision.

You can easily find Universal photographers and photo stations in various attractive photo locations across the Universal theme parks (Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, Universal Studios).

With the purchase of a photo pass, you get the benefit of having your picture taken in the highest quality setting and avoiding the hassle of carrying around a camera all day making it totally worth it to buy one.

Sure enough, you can take pictures of both you and your family yourself.

But, only perfectly-timed, automated cameras placed strategically in several areas (Rip Ride Rockit, Hulk, Harry Potter, and the Forbidden Journey) within the park are able to capture the raw emotions and expressions of you and your loved ones.

Thankfully, with Universal Photo Passes, there are a few different options you can choose from.

A one-day Universal Orlando Photo Pass will set you back $69.99 plus tax.

This pass gives you access to all your pictures taken at specific locations in Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay.

With this package, you also get special discounts on My Universal Photos photo gift products, exclusive pricing on park photo prints, and one free 4×6 and 5×7 photo print.

However, you need to bear in mind that this specific package is only available online.

If you intend to stick around at Universal for a longer period of time, you can opt for the three-day photo pass.

You can save $10 off the in-park price if you purchase the three-day pass online and in advance. With a $10 discount, you’d have to pay $89.99 plus tax to obtain this pass.

Like the previous pass, this one also gives you access to all your pictures taken in Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay.

Like the one-day package, the three-day photo pass also offers discounts on My Universal Photos photo gift products, and one free 4×6 and 5×7 photo print.

A one-day photo pass at Volcano Bay is also offered to those only planning to visit Volcano Bay.

As the name of the pass suggests, it only offers downloads of your photos from specific locations in Universal’s Volcano Bay. You can save $10 by buying this pass ahead of time.

After purchasing the pass (package), you will have to sign up on the My Amazing Pictures mobile app; this app will allow you to view and share your pictures as you please.

When you purchase the package, you will also receive a My Universal Photos-theme lanyard along with a yellow card with a QR code.

This yellow card will work as a memory card of sorts, storing all your ride photos.

However, you need to keep in mind that you must scan the QR code upon exiting each attraction that has a ride photo.

If you don’t, you won’t be able to store or obtain your ride pictures.

What to Do if You Don’t Pre-Purchase a Photo Pass

If you haven’t purchased the photo packages in advance, you need to first locate one of the many photographers in the theme parks.

The photographers will give you the yellow card with a QR code on it.

Then, you can use the yellow card as mentioned before and purchase the pictures you want from the Universal Photos store.
