Can Universal Studios Store Our Luggage?
Spending the day at Universal Studios you may want to bring along some necessary supplies.
The last thing you want is to arrive and find there is nowhere to store your belongings.
Here we’ll discuss storage options in Universal parks and luggage storage at their resort hotels.
Rest assured, you won’t have to miss out on valuable time inside the parks because you have no place for your bags.
Unlike some other theme parks, Universal Studios doesn’t allow guests to carry backpacks and large bags while they’re at attractions. Thankfully, it isn’t necessary to have a designated bag-holder in your group, as there are lockers for personal belongings in both the parks and at the hotels.

Park Lockers and Storage
Universal offers locker rentals so guests can store their belongings while inside the parks. To gain access to one of their lockers, stop by the guest services booths to be directed.
For Universal Studios Hollywood, locker rentals can be found throughout the parks and accept cash or credit for their operation. You pay $8, $12, or $15 for the day, depending on which size locker you’ll need.
For the Universal Orlando Resort Parks, you’ll need to check in at a guest service booth for access to the lockers.
These are generally located near the entrances to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, as well as throughout Volcano Bay.
Pricing is subject to change for the Orlando parks and must be checked on-site.
The main locker facilities described above give guests unlimited access throughout the day to pop in and out to grab or store items.
In the case of Universal Orlando, certain rides and attractions also have small locker facilities to store loose articles and belongings when on the ride.
Larger lockers are also available but are subject to an additional fee for their use.
Attractions at the Orlando parks with locker facilities include:
- Revenge of the Mummy™
- MEN IN BLACK™ Alien Attack™
- Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit™
- Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts™
- The Incredible Hulk Coaster®
- Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™
- Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure™
- Jurassic World VelociCoaster
- Jurassic Park River Adventure™
- Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges®
- Dudley Do-Rights Ripsaw Falls®
Currently, there is no information available for attraction lockers in Universal Studios Hollywood.
There are also a few things to keep in mind if you plan on using the lockers at any Universal Studios park.
Namely, all lockers are on a first-come-first-served basis and subject to availability. If you aren’t at the park early, there may be no lockers available for use.
While there are convenient lockers located inside the parks, they aren’t easily accessible from everywhere.
Make sure you keep the things you’ll need throughout the day on you and store everything else for later.
Lockers are available in three sizes: mini, large, and family. The lockers at the park aren’t typically large enough to hold big suitcases or full duffel bags.
The largest posted locker size only measures 12 inches x 16.25 inches x 16.9 inches. If you’ll be needing to store these, leaving them in the car is your best option.
Resort Hotel Luggage Storage
While Universal Studios Hollywood doesn’t have on-site hotels, the Universal Orlando Resort has plenty of them.
You can save money on park tickets, transportation, and nightly rates by planning to stay at a resort hotel during your vacation.
With premier passes and packages, guests can check into resort hotels early in the day and head over to the parks.
Early check-in doesn’t guarantee that the room(s) will be ready though, so guests need a storage option for their luggage.
Thankfully, resort hotels have luggage services that will store your bags until your room is ready and then bring them to your room once you’re checked in.
Stop by the front desk of your hotel to drop off your bags and check for the availability of this service.
Generally, it comes at no extra cost and lets groups venture off to the parks without worrying about where their bags are.
Extras Things to Remember
All bags, backpacks, or purses that are brought into the parks are subject to X-ray scans and the possibility of additional inspection.
Suitcases and luggage with wheels are not allowed inside the parks.
There is the possibility that you can use a free locker at the parks, as they are not always paid rentals. This is usually subject to availability.
If you need to get into your locker, expect to have to wait in line for around 15 minutes or more. All lockers are behind fingerprint scanners and you won’t be the only one going in and out of the facility.
