What to Expect on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train?

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a steel-constructed roller coaster in Magic Kingdom at Disney World.

After Disney closed Snow White’s Scary Adventures in 2012, Imagineers built the Mine Train as a family-friendly replacement that keeps this iconic princess inside Fantasyland.

This short, 4-min ride has small bumps and fast turns like a typical roller coaster, taking guests through different scenes from the Disney classic, including the mine shaft, forest, and Snow White’s cottage.

What makes the attraction so enjoyable is the use of audio-animatronics that bring the popular film characters to life.

The Seven Dwarfs are modeled after the movie and can sing and act realistically, making guests actually feel like they’re catching them at work.

This technology is becoming quite popular at Disney World and can be seen in other attractions, such as the Na’vi River Journey in Animal Kingdom and Frozen Ever After at EPCOT.

Even though guests meet the Dwarfs in the darkness of a mine, their joyful nature keeps the ride lighthearted – some guests even exit the Mine Train wishing it was longer so they could spend more time with these beloved characters.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Theme and Characters

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is inspired by the famous song “Heigh-Ho” from the movie Snow White

It follows the Seven Dwarfs as they work in the gem mine, singing and picking away at the rock.

Guests embark, riding through the forest toward the mine shaft.

After a short tour around the mountain, the vehicle goes underground, where each Dwarf sings and works as riders glide past shimmering gemstones.

Before exiting the mine, Doc yells out, “Heigh-Ho!” alerting the others that their day is over.

Guests then cruise by Snow White’s Cottage, catching a glimpse of the Evil Queen watching as Snow White dances with two of the Dwarfs.

The cars are made from hollowed-out logs, each holding up to 4 guests.

Interestingly, while every car is connected, they are able to wobble independently of each other, and when going around turns or over bumps, the cars swing back and forth.

This effect isn’t overwhelming, but it does add a layer of excitement to the ride.

Speed, Drops, and Turns on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train reaches a top speed of 34 miles per hour (54.7 kph) on its biggest drop.

Otherwise, the ride glides along at a comfortable pace as guests take in the charming scenery.

At 39 feet (12 meters), the big drop at the end is surprisingly comparable to Splash Mountain and is definitely the most intimidating portion of the attraction.

However, the vehicle curves as it drops, allowing it to slow down and dampen what could be a bigger thrill.

Other drops and turns along the way are nothing more than small bumps and quick curves, providing just enough thrills to keep the coaster exciting.

Is the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Scary?

With gentle roller coaster thrills, no jump scares, and cute characters, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is perfect for guests of all ages.

This is a tame, family-friendly ride that is by no means scary.

Parts of the ride are dark, but not for long. The darkness is quickly interrupted by glittering gemstones accompanied by the sound of classic Disney songs.

Though the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train features a steel roller coaster track, it does not flip guests upside down or race them around turns.

Some of the elements may be intense for little riders, and it’s a good idea to talk to them about potential scares before boarding the ride.

While the charm and sentimentality of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will please any guest, younger parkgoers will easily have the most fun.

The gentle nature of this roller coaster is the perfect training ground for future thrill seekers or those testing the waters.

For safety reasons, there is a minimum height requirement of 38 inches (97 cm) to enjoy this ride.

Additionally, with the small thrills and dark moments, this ride may not be suitable for guests under 3 or 4 years old.

If they do meet the minimum height, ensure little parkgoers know what to expect so they are comfortable and can enjoy the ride.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a wonderful family-friendly roller coaster in the Magic Kingdom at Disney World, and guests of all ages delight in riding through mine shafts with the Seven Dwarfs.
