New Policies at Disney World: What You Need to Know

Disney World is constantly evolving with new rides, restaurants, and hotels. While innovation is key to staying relevant, not all changes are well-received. Some recent updates have sparked strong reactions from Disney enthusiasts.

Changes to Disability Access Service (DAS)

A significant portion of the Disney community has voiced concerns about the changes to the Disability Access Service (DAS) at Disney World.

The goal of these updates is to ensure DAS is used by those who genuinely need it. Here’s what has changed:

  • Limit on Pass Holders: The DAS user can now only include 4 people on the pass, or just their immediate family if the group is larger than 4.
  • Pre-Entitlements: Previously, guests could choose 2 rides per day with pre-entitlements while also using the regular DAS system. Now, pre-entitlements and the regular DAS system are separate, and DAS users are not guaranteed pre-entitlements.
  • Enrollment Window: The enrollment window for DAS has increased from 60 days to 120 days before the visit.
  • Application Process: The option to apply in person is no longer available. Guests must speak with a Cast Member virtually before their trip.

Disney has seen a tripling in the use of DAS over the past five years and wants to ensure it is used by those who truly need it. They have also stated that guests found to be misusing DAS will face permanent bans from Disney World and Disneyland.

Rising Costs

Another major concern is the rising cost of visiting Disney World. Many feel that the increasing prices will impact their ability to return.

Disney World has always been a magical place, but these changes have sparked debate among fans. As Disney continues to innovate and evolve, it’s clear that not all updates will be welcomed with open arms.
