Can Disneyland Tickets Be Transferred? (Updated 2023)

Sometimes plans change, and you’ll be taking a different person on your trip than who you originally planned.

Or, maybe you bought tickets for a loved one, and you want to transfer them over.

Whatever the reason, sometimes, you need to reassign your Disneyland tickets.

You can transfer your Disneyland tickets to another person, as long as no one has used them. To transfer a ticket, you’ll need to go into the My Disney Experience app and reassign it to a person on your Family and Friends list.

Can I Transfer Any Disneyland Ticket?

POV of a person holding up two Disneyland Tickets

You can transfer any unused Disneyland ticket.

However, you can not reassign a ticket that you have already used.

So, for example, if you have a multiday ticket that you’ve already gained entry to the park with, you can not give that ticket to someone else.

You can’t give it away because as soon as you use a Disneyland ticket, it becomes non-transferable, per Disney’s ticket policies

And Disneyland ensures that only one person uses a ticket by taking a photo of the person who first entered the park with it.

Then, if someone tries to get into Disneyland with that same ticket, a Disneyland employee will make sure the photo matches the person who is trying to enter.

If the picture and face don’t match, that person won’t be able to enter the park.

Therefore, no one can gain access to the park with someone else’s ticket.

Disney’s app will not let you reassign the used ticket either.

But, you can rest assured that you can transfer any unused ticket, no matter the type, to another person.

How to Transfer a Disneyland Ticket?

First of all, you need to ensure you have a Disney app account and that your Disneyland tickets are on that account.

If you haven’t yet linked your tickets, follow the steps below (under “How to Link a Disneyland Ticket to Your Disney App Account”) before trying to transfer tickets.

Next, you need to add your recipient’s name to your Family and Friends list in the Disney app.

To do so, you have to open the My Disney Experience app and navigate to your Family and Friends list.

Then, you can simply add the name of the recipient.

And once you’ve added their name, you can transfer the ticket to that person.

To transfer the ticket to that person’s name, you’ll need to:

  • Open the My Disney Experience app
  • Navigate to “My Disney Experience”
  • Choose “My Reservations”
  • Find the ticket you want to transfer
  • Pick the “Reassign Ticket” option and select who you want to give the ticket to

How to Link a Disneyland Ticket to a Disney App Account?

If you haven’t linked your tickets to a Disney app account, you can’t yet transfer them.

So, first off, if you don’t already have a Disney app account, you need to download the app and create an account.

Afterward, you can link your tickets to your account by following these steps:

  • Go to the home page on the My Disney Experience app
  • Select the three horizontal lines in the bottom right corner of your screen
  • Choose “Tickets and Passes”
  • Tap the “+” in the upper right corner
  • Pick “Link Tickets and Passes”

Now, the app will ask you to enter the confirmation code for each ticket.

You can find these codes in the confirmation email you received after purchasing the tickets.

What if I Can’t Find My Confirmation Code?

If you can’t locate your confirmation code, you need to call Disney’s ticket line at (714) 781-4636.

A Cast Member will then be able to help you find your ticket code.

Gifting Disneyland Tickets When You Purchase Them

If you already know you are buying Disneyland tickets for someone else as a gift, you can go ahead and make this clear at checkout.

Doing so can help you save time and avoid having to transfer them later.

To gift Disneyland tickets at checkout, you just need to:

  • Begin by selecting the tickets you want to buy on the Disneyland ticket page
  • Proceed to checkout
  • Under “Guest Information,” click the checkbox next to “This order will be a gift”
  • Type in the person’s legal name

How to Pick Up Gifted Tickets

Exterior of the main entrance of Disneyland

If you gift your tickets to someone else when you bought them, that person has to pick up their tickets when they visit Disneyland.

To pick up their tickets, they first need to make their way to the ticket booth at Disneyland’s main entrance.

They can find the ticket booths in the esplanade area between Disney’s California Adventure Park and Disneyland Park.

Once here, the person will have to show the ticket booth employee their gift receipt and their government-issued photo ID.

And, of course, the name on their ID must match the name on their tickets.

You should also remind them that if the ticket is for someone under the age of 18, the child will not be able to pick up the tickets themselves.

A parent or legal guardian must go with them to pick up their tickets, and that adult must have a valid government-issued photo ID.

Can I Transfer a Disneyland Annual Pass?

Yes, you can transfer a Disneyland annual pass, also called a Magic Key pass.

You can make this transfer online as long as no one has used the pass yet.

To reassign an unused annual pass online, you will need to:

  • Open the My Disney Experience app
  • Navigate to “My Reservations”
  • Choose “Reassign Ticket”
  • Select the person you want to assign the pass to from your Family and Friends list

If you have already used the annual pass, you can still reassign it, but you can not do so online.

To reassign a used pass, you need to call Disneyland’s Magic Key support number at (714) 781-7277.

Conclusion

Luckily, you can transfer Disneyland tickets to another person as long as you have not used them.

To transfer tickets, you need to reassign them within the My Disney Experience app by choosing the recipient from your Family and Friends list.

Or, if you already know that you’ll be giving the tickets to someone else when you buy them, you can always gift them to the person when you checkout.
